30 Day Book Meme (5)

Day 5: A book that makes you happy.

Since I find this so difficult I am going to alter the question and pick a book cover that makes me happy.

For some reason the cover of Beauty Queens by Libba Bray makes me smile! I kind of chuckle to myself to think of beauty queens lost in the wilderness, fighting for their survival. I haven't read this book yet, but I do own it so I'm looking forward to getting into it.

Here's the synopsis:

The fifty contestants in the Miss Teen Dream pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner.

What's a beauty queen to do? Continue to practice for the talent portion of the program--or wrestle snakes to the ground? Get a perfect tan--or learn to run wild? And what should happen when the sexy pirates show up?

Welcome to the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Your tour guide? None other than Libba Bray, the hilarious, sensational, Printz Award-winning author of A Great and Terrible Beauty and Going Bovine. The result is a novel that will make you laugh, make you think, and make you never see beauty the same way again.

Have you read, Beauty Queens? What book or cover makes you happy?

  3. I absolutely loved Beauty Queens! I actually listened to the audiobook (read by Libba Bray herself!). It definitely one of my favorites, right up there with Going Bovine!

But the cover that makes me most happy would definitely be the one for Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. It's just... so cute!

@Ashley, I love the cover for Lola and The Boy Next Door. I have Anna and The French Kiss on my TBR and I hope to get to it soon so I can read Lola. I've heard great things about Stephanie Perkins and I follow her blog. She's hilarious!
